How much do you charge?
For my current wedding rate, please contact me by phone or email. My quote takes into account set-up time, the entire ceremony (Prelude, Processional, Recessional, and Postlude), and transportation costs. I charge an extra fee for rehearsals, the cocktail hour, and the reception. I am also available to play for engagement parties, showers, and rehearsal dinners.
Won't the harp be too soft to hear in a crowded room?
The harp projects quite well on its own, especially in a place with naturally good acoustics, such as a church. If necessary, an amplification system will allow the harp to be heard regardless of the noise level.
Do you provide your own amplification system?
Yes. I charge a $50 fee for events requiring me to bring my own equipment. I recommend checking with the event coordinator or the venue hosting your event first to make sure there is an electrical outlet available for me to use, especially if the event is going to be held outdoors.
Is the harp suitable for outdoor ceremonies?
Of course! However, because it is an expensive and delicate instrument, there are two guidelines to consider. First, please make sure the location you have chosen has a flat, dry, and level surface, approximately 4 ft by 4 ft, for the harp to rest upon. This space should also have adequate lighting. Secondly, please arrange an alternate location indoors in case of inclement weather conditions. Strong winds or rain can easily damage the instrument, making it necessary to quickly move indoors should bad weather arise.
Do you play for commitment ceremonies/renewal of vows as well?
Yes. The same basic fee for weddings also applies to commitment ceremonies and renewal of vows.
Do you take special requests?
Yes. Special requests - any songs that are not listed on my Repertoire List - must be made at the time the contract is signed, and no less than one month before the date of the wedding. This is to allow enough time for me to obtain and learn the music so that it is well rehearsed for your ceremony. Please keep in mind that some music is simply unplayable on the harp. I reserve the right to arrange the music in order to better suit the instrument or to substitute a different piece after notifying the client. Please try to limit your requests to two songs - this will ensure that I have adequate time to prepare and perform the music at the highest professional standard possible for your wedding.
